RUTH NAVON Obituary

Published by Richmond Times-Dispatch on Dec. 28, 2011.
NAVON, Ruth Baermann, of Richmond, (formerly from Germany and Israel), peacefully passed away December 26, 2011, a few weeks prior to her 100th birthday. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Herman Navon. She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Fratkin and her husband, Dr. Melvin Fratkin, and their sons, Andy, David and Kevin; her son, Dr. Ralph Navon and his wife, Alicia Ginsberg Navon, and their children, Jodi, Jason and Jessica; and seven great-grandchildren. Mrs. Navon was a member of Hadassah, National Council of Jewish Women, Richmond Jewish Community Center, Temple Or Atid and an early member of the Virginia Holocaust Museum. She was an avid walker and exercised throughout her life. Many knew and thanked her for her personal services as a longtime saleswoman at Miller & Rhoads. She was well known for her expertise in stringing pearls, which she did during her leisure time. The family sincerely thanks the staff at Beth Sholom Home of Virginia and Medi Home Health and Hospice. Graveside services will be held Thursday, December 29, at 1 p.m. in Emek Sholom (Forest Lawn Cemetery). In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Virginia Holocaust Museum or Medi Home Health and Hospice.
