Ruth Ellen Nordman, 96, of North Manchester, Indiana, formerly of Wabash and Silver Lake, Indiana, died at 12:27 am, Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at Peabody Healthcare Center in North Manchester. She was born on September 10, 1929, in Kokomo, Indiana, to Samuel "Strode" and Mary Elnora (Edwards) Saylors.
Ruth was a graduate of Onward High School. She married Adolph Junior Nordman in Roann, Indiana on September 17, 1950; he died July 3, 2004. Ruth worked at Ford Meter Box in Wabash for 29 years, and also published a book with John Peterink, "Time Travels with Ruth." She enjoyed crocheting baby blankets, reading, bird watching at the lake, and watching home remodeling shows and westerns, especially Bonanza.
She is survived by three children, Patricia Hidy of Wabash, Joan Lambert of Peru, Indiana, and R. Duane (Jo) Nordman of Ossian, Indiana; six grandchildren, Katena (Brian) Vice of Fulton, Indiana, Joseph G. Hidy of Wabash, Amy (Don) Marlow of Sulfur Springs, Indiana, Mary (Dustin) Maisel of Rochester, Indiana, Braden (Adrienne) Nordman of Tennessee, and Joshua (Mandy) Nordman of Ossian; thirteen great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; brother, Robert Saylors of Lugoff, South Carolina, and nephew, Bobby (Patty Stone) Saylors of Lugoff. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and sister-in-law, Marie Saylors.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 8, 2025 at Zion Lutheran Church, 173 Hale Drive, Wabash, with Pastor Nathan Scheiber officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawns Cemetery, Wabash. Friends may call 12-2:00 p.m., Monday, at the church. Arrangements by Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, Wabash.
Preferred memorial is Zion Lutheran Church.
