Ruth T. O'Donnell

Canandaigua – Ruth T. O'Donnell, age 93, passed away peacefully, on Monday, November 24, 2025, while surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by five children, Maureen O'Donnell, Richard (Martha) O'Donnell, Jr., Michael (Marcia) O'Donnell, Eileen Pope and Thomas (Tamra) O'Donnell; 10 grandchildren, Brittany (Michael) Boch, Krista Archambeau (Nate Bull), Benjamin Pope (Hanife Gundogdu), Morgan (Trevor) Benson, Mitchell O'Donnell (Paige Hill), Austin O'Donnell, Shannon O'Donnell, Jadon O'Donnell, Ethan (Ali) O'Donnell and Jillian (Ryan) DeLelles; four great-grandchildren, Emma Grace, Estelle Ranier, Jackson Richard and Beau Richard. She was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Richard J. O'Donnell in 2020.
Ruth was born in Brooklyn, NY and was the daughter of Otto and Mary (Winter) Wilke. She and her family moved to Paterson, NJ when she was a child. Ruth and Dick met in New Jersey and married May 17, 1954 in Fairfax, VA. They moved to Canandaigua in 1958 where Dick took a new job as a Franchise Owner for Pepperidge Farms.
Ruth was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker and worked part-time at Finger Lakes Racetrack. She always supported Dick with his basketball coaching at St. Mary's School. Ruth enjoyed bowling in a league at the former Adams Bowling Alley, baking for family and friends and cheering for the NY Mets. She was an avid sports fan. Most of all, Ruth loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed.
Her funeral mass will be celebrated Monday, December 1, at 11 am, at St. Mary's Church, 95 N. Main St., Canandaigua. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Canandaigua. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's School, 16 Gibson St., Canandaigua, NY 14424. Arrangements are by Johnson-Kennedy Funeral Home, Inc., Canandaigua.
