WEST MANCHESTER — Ruth Mary Parks, 80, of West Manchester, passed away on Friday, Jan. 12, 2024, at the Kettering Medical Center in Kettering.
She was born April 13, 1943, in Richmond, Indiana to the late Fritz and Edna Mae Hans. She was a longtime member of the Wares Chapel United Methodist Church in West Manchester; was a volunteer at the Monroe Township Food Bank; enjoyed reading and cooking; and loved vacationing in Michigan with her husband Ray.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Ray E. Parks, who passed away in 2001; an infant daughter; sisters Amy Call and Martha Tapalman; brother Paul Hans; and infant brother Karl Hans.
She is survived by her daughter Regina (Harold) James of Lewisburg; son Richard (Amie) Parks of Lewisburg; grandchildren Kyle (Julie) James, Trent (Amy) James, Jessica Parks and Sara Parks; great-grandchildren Ruthie James, Payton Oda and Payge Oda; sister Lois (Bill) McDowell and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 17, from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:30 a.m. at Wares Chapel United Methodist Church, 1060 Foos Road, West Manchester, with Pastor Kenneth Stewart officiating. Burial will follow at Wares Chapel Cemetery in West Manchester. Gard Funeral Home, Eaton is assisting with arrangements.
