94 year old Fairfield resident, Ruth W. Read passed away Monday December 1st. 2025 at Fairfield Senior Living and Rehab in Fairfield, Illinois.

Ruth was born June 30, 1931 in Nashville, Illinois to Raymond and Hallie (Qualls) Cameron.

Ruth married Fred Read on October 18, 1953 in Centralia, Illinois. Ruth & Fred celebrated 72 wedding anniversaries together.

Ruth was a member of the First Christian Church in Fairfield IL. She was also a member of Eastern Star. Ruth held many different positions over her lifetime, retiring from Oldsmar City Hall in Oldsmar, FL.

Ruth was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her family was the light of her life. She always had something nice to say about everyone. Anyone who ever met her said she was such a sweet person. She will be missed by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents,7 brothers and sisters.

Ruth is survived by her husband; Fred, 1 son; David & (Judy) Read. 1 daughter; Deborah & (Michael) Bachmann. 4 Grandchildren; Christopher (Jenny) Bachmann, Stephanie (Jason) Meyer, Joshua Read, Caleb Read. 8 Great Grandchildren Carissa Bachmann, Jackson Meyer, Clinton Bachmann, Audra Meyer, Leighton Read, Axel Read, Maximus Read, Eleanor Read. 1 sister; Catherine (David) Daugherty and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Ruth W. Read will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 6th, 2025 at Nale's Funeral Home in Fairfield. Visitation will be Saturday morning, 10:00 a.m. to service time. Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in Fairfield.
