O B I T U A R Y
Ruth Arnett Simpson of Greensburg, Kentucky daughter of the late Lewis Arnett and Goldie Nelson Arnett, was born on Monday, February 8, 1937 in Taylor County and departed this life on Sunday, January 4, 2026 at Baptist Health Hardin. She was 88 years, 10 months, and 27 days of age.
She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Greasy Creek Baptist Church. She retired from Fruit of the Loom as a machine operator after 43 years.
She was united in marriage to Joedene Simpson on July 20, 1955, who preceded her in death on July 26, 2018.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law: Elva Jo Coffey and Ronnie of Adair County, two grandchildren: Bridgette Morgan of Texas, Cody Coffey of Adair County; three great-grandchildren: Tyler Atwood of Greensburg, Casen Coffey, Saylor Coffey both of Adair County; four great-greatgrandchildren: Preston Atwood, Luxton Atwood, Sunni Atwood, Swayzi Atwood; three sisters: Ruby Milby, Nettie Creason both of Greensburg, Kathryn Simpson of Central City; two brothers: Noah Arnett of Center, Raymond Arnett of Greensburg; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Besides her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by two sisters: Martha Edwards, Virginia Akin; six brothers: Edgar Arnett, Clayton Arnett, Carl Arnett, Woodson Arnett, Frank Arnett, Robert Arnett.

The funeral service for Ruth Arnett Simpson will be conducted at 1 P.M., Central Time, Wednesday, January 7, 2026 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home with burial to follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Bro. Thomas Metcalf and Bro. Adam Scott officiating.
Visitation is requested after 9:30 A.M., Central Time, Wednesday at the funeral home until time of the service.
The family has requested that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Oak Grove Cemetery Fund or the Gideon Bible Fund which can be made at the funeral home.
