Ruth M. Snedden

Ruth M. Snedden, 95, of Forest City, died of a stroke in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on June 8, 2025.

Private family graveside services will be held in Oakland Cemetery in Forest City, Iowa.

Memorials may be directed to MercyOne North Iowa Hospice.

Ruth was born in Forest City to Milton and Hazel (Hanna) Miller. She graduated from Forest City High School in 1946 and went on to attend the American Beauty School in Des Moines, graduating in 1947.

On April 17, 1948, she married Richard (Dick) Snedden. They were married 67 years until Dick passed away in 2015. They had one son, Richard Jr.

Ruth chose banking as a career. She worked for Brenton Banks in Vinton and Cedar Falls and for MBT Bank in Forest City. She was a member of Eastern Star for more than 50 years and served as Grand Matron. She enjoyed playing golf, sewing, and quilting.

She was a member of Eastern Star for more than 50 years and served as Worthy Matron.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Milton and Hazel Miller; her husband, Dick Snedden; and her two brothers, Marvin and Raymond.

She is survived by her son, Richard Snedden, Jr. and his wife, Lynn Barnes.
