Ruth A. Stanford – age 89, died Wednesday, December 11, 2024 from advanced cancer surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank Stanford Jr.
Ruth was born in Colebrook NH, on August 18, 1935, a daughter of the late Claude L. Hodge and Alberta (Covell) Hodge. During her childhood she moved around to several states with her parents, brother and beloved Grandmother. Ruth graduated from Howe High School in Billerica, class of 1954. She met her husband Frank while visiting her dad at Galvin Farm on Concord Road in Billerica. Her husband was a lifetime service man and they moved around to several states finally settling in Billerica, Massachusetts in 1971, where she would spend the remainder of her life.
Ruth's greatest joy was the love and time spent with her family, playing outdoor yard games in her younger days and indoor board and card games with family and friends throughout her life, she enjoyed time spent around the dinner table, during holiday sharing stories and creating memories with her children and grandchildren. She will be remembered as a devoted mother and grandmother who always put her family first. Ruth was never employed outside the home; she instead was a stay-at-home mom and later a full-time baby sitter for all seven of her grandchildren. Ruth also took care of her dad in the few years before his passing.
She is survived by her daughter Marie Davis and her husband Brent, David Stanford and his wife Annette, Shirley Fulgoni and her husband Thomas and Edie Mozer and her husband Michael. Ruth is also survived by her seven grandchildren, Janeen and Michele Davis, Anthony Fulgoni, Michael and Briana Stanford, Jessica and Nicholas Fulgoni and Matthew Mozer. Ruth is also survived by her younger brother Merton C. Hodge who she adored until her final days and his wife Jane. Several nieces and nephews, and her dear friend Betty who she enjoyed going out to dinner with and watching game shows while eating ice cream sundaes.
