Ruth Elisabeth (Jensen) Stramel of Stratton Colorado, passed away peacefully on Friday November 01, 2024 with her daughter by her side. Ruth was 77 years old and staying at Grace Manor Care Center in Burlington Colorado.
Ruth was born on January 14, 1947, in Goodland Kansas to Peter A Jensen and Ruth Elisabeth (Notz) Jensen.
Ruth attended Kanorado High School and did not finish but 20 years later returned to school in Stratton Colorado to Graduate in 1984 with honors. She went back to school to prove to her son that "If I can do it, so can you."
Ruth grew up on a farm south of Kanorado Kansas until she met her soulmate, Richard A Stramel, who brought her brother Luther home while on leave from the Army. They united in marriage on June 18, 1966 and to this union two children were born. Richard Lynn in 1968 and Pamela Kay in 1969.
Ruth lived in Goodland Kansas and watched relatives' children, worked at a grocery store, and took care of her own children just being a housewife.
In 1975 Ruth moved to Stratton Colorado when her husband transferred due to his employment with the Rock Island Railroad. While in Stratton Ruth worked at B&B Drug, the town liquor store, the Bowling Alley, Ampride and ran the family laundromat.
Later in life Ruth worked for DDI in Burlington Colorado helping people with disabilities. She loved helping the clients and would often take them to different places like McDonalds, where they would work and build self-confidence and feel like they were a part of society.
Ruth loved to cook, sew, crochet, knit, work with wood, build crafts, and remodeling her homes. She made clothing for her children and to give as gifts to relatives. She also made a dress for her little sister and her daughter's prom dresses. She would crochet and knit Christmas gifts for family and friends. She built end tables and chests that she would store items in so that she had wall space to display photographs of all her friends and relatives. She was always doing some type of craft in the evenings to give as gifts or just make her home a special place. She would tear up a room, moving walls if she had to, just to make it the way she wanted or to put her spin on things. She also loved to collect Coke memorabilia, dolls, and angels.
Ruth also loved spending time with her two grandchildren, Seth and Kasey. She would attend their school events and hardly ever missed a special event like birthdays, Thanksgiving, or Christmas. Family meant a lot to her.
Proceeding her in death were her parents, Pete and Ruth (Betty) Jensen, her husband Richard (Dick) Stramel, brother Luther F Jensen, sister Bonny L Walt, and sister-in-law Karen Jensen.
Surviving family includes her son Richard L. Stramel, wife Monica and their children Seth and Kasey all of Goodland KS, daughter Pamela K Stramel of Stratton CO, brother Pete and wife Kay Jensen of St. Francis KS, sister Judi Nemechek of Goodland KS, and Many nieces and nephews.
