Ruth M. (Fritz) Tonnesen 98 of East Hanover died peacefully Saturday, October 18, 2025. Born in Glen Ridge to Harry and Harriet (Seigler) Fritz, she resided in Bloomfield before moving to East Hanover 75 years ago.
Ruth was a homemaker, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. She loved gardening, baking and traveling. Ruth was a member of Kitchell Memorial Presbyterian Church in East Hanover.
She is predeceased by her husband of 71 years, Anton T. Tonnesen who died in 2020, by six brothers; Eugene, Wilbert, Walter, Thome, Russell and Hervey Fritz and by two sisters; Marie Louise Howering and Elizabeth Robinson.
Ruth is survived by three sons; Garry and wife Susan of Fayetteville, PA, Wayne and wife Karen of Tuckerton and William and wife Phyllis of Branchville, by a daughter Linda Graham and husband Robert of Sandyston, by eight grandchildren; W. Alexander, Andrew W., Katie L., Sara E., Anna Taylor, Becky, Elizabeth and Scott and by eleven great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11AM Thursday at the St. Giles Chapel Chapel at Restland Memorial Park, 77 DeForest Avenue, East Hanover under the direction of Hancliffe Home for Funerals, 222 Ridgedale Avenue, East Hanover, NJ 07936. Burial will follow at Restland Memorial Park.
Memorial donations to Kitchell Memorial Presbyterian Church in Ruth's name would be appreciated in lieu of flowers.

Linda & Bob, Garry & Susan, Wayne and Karen , Bill & Phyllis and all of their Grandchildren and great grandchildren. Out deepest sympathy. So sorry for the love of Mom. She will live in yours hearts and memories forever.
