Ohio, IL - Ruth Helen Vincent, age 97, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family, on Monday, February 2, 2026.
Ruth was born on April 7, 1928, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late John L. Johnson and Anna J. Hoffman. After graduating, she married the love of her life, Calvin C. Vincent, and together they began raising their family.
She dedicated her life to being a devoted homemaker, lovingly caring for her children and managing her home with warmth, kindness, and exceptional cooking. She was a faithful member of the OCCW at Immaculate Conception Church in Ohio, Illinois. Ruth enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles and solving problems, and she was known by all who loved her as an amazing cook with a gentle, giving heart. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family, sharing stories of her travels and her life.
Ruth is survived by one son, David Vincent; one brother Thomas Johnson; her granddaughters, Amanda Vincent and Corinne Thomas; and her three great-grandchildren, Noah, Saylor, and Reece Jilderde.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Anna Johnson; her husband, Calvin Vincent; her son, Dale W. Vincent; and her siblings: Anna Catherine, John Bernard, Mary Louise, her brothers who were twins Richard Arnold and Raymond Henry, Charles William, Dorothy Agnes, Lorraine Veronica, Joseph Edward, Louis Michael, Martha Rose, and Elizabeth "Betty" Jeanette.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for charitable distribution.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Norberg Memorial Home, Inc. & Monuments.
Funeral services will follow at Immaculate Conception Church, 101 N. Main Street, Ohio, Illinois, officiated by Father Thomas Shaw.
Graveside services will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Ohio, Illinois with Father Thomas Shaw offering words of comfort.
