Ruth Williamson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Stephenson-Shaw Funeral Home - Jackson on Jan. 20, 2026.
Miss Ruth Ann Williamson was born November 29, 1946, in Jackson, Tennessee to her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clenzie and Sylvar Rene Marshall Williamson both who preceded her in death. She departed this life on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at her home.

Ruth Ann attended the public schools of Jackson-Madison County, where she graduated from Merry High School in 1964 and Lane College in 1970 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education in 1970. Upon graduating from Lane College, Ruth Ann went on to pursue her career as a teacher with Cairo Public Schools, Cairo, Illinois where she taught 32 years.

At an early age, she professed her hope, faith, and love of God by dedicating her Life to Christ fully and accepted Him as her personal Savior, was baptized and was extended the right hand of fellowship; became a member of Macedonia under the Rev. Cleavant Derricks, Sr.

As a member, she was dedicated in and serving as an usher and member of the choir. She also attended and enjoyed going to and participating in Sunday School, Bible School, Baptist Training Union, Youth Encampment, Saturday meetings of the Obion River District Association, and Baptist Training Union Congress sessions. Ruth Ann also served alongside her sister Annie Ruth as Day Care Directors.

One of her greatest joys was when she dedicated her life to Christ and began serving and worshipping Him. She continued reading His Holy word daily, praying and praising, spreading the "Good News" of God's Grace and Mercy to others, singing songs of Zion, watching and listening to online services, and gospel music until her last breath.

To know Ruth Ann, was to love her and for her to know you was to be loved. She devoted her life to serving God and others. Whether it was lending a listening ear, offering words of encouragement, or preparing one of those delicious home-cooked meals or desserts; she was always ready to give of herself to others. Mom, (Bootsie), we love you sooo much and we will always love, cherish the memories, and keep you forever in our hearts!

Miss Williamson was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents: Mr. Frank and Mrs. SueEllar Marshall, sisters: Annie Ruth Williamson and Clara B. Williamson Flowers; brothers: Clenzie Williamson, Jr., Samuel Williamson, and William David Williamson.

Ruth Ann leaves to cherish her memory one, son Sean Williamson, sisters: Mattie Sue Williamson Roby, Fannie M. Williamson, Corene D. Williamson Maclin (Jerome), Valerie Y. Williamson, and Ella R. Williamson; and a host of other relatives and friends.

My heart weeps with the family of Ruth Ann. I have known this family for many years. This friendship goes deep with love and devotion. May God be your strength and shoulder in time of need. My prayers are with you but know "Boostie" is heavens gain. She is resting in God´s arms now.
