Mrs. Ruth L. Wilson

Mrs. Ruth Wilson gained her wings on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at the age of 90 years. She was born in Reed, Mississippi on April 21, 1933 to Joe Russell and Lula Mae (Stephens) Gordon.
She came to Saginaw, Michigan on July 3, 1949 arriving at the Potter Street Train Station. She attended and graduated from Saginaw High School. Ruth joined Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Steel. Once she married Clendry Wilson, Jr., she moved her membership to True Vine Missionary Baptist Church under R.B. Corley, Sr. She worked faithfully in the Saginaw Valley Baptist District for a number of years. She joined Messiah Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Otis Washington: she loved her Messiah family.
She and her husband moved to Birch Run to raise their family. Nellie McMorris, Detroit, MI, Dynasty Wilson, Grand Rapids, MI, Mary Ann Wilson-Williams, Flint, MI and Clendry Russell Wilson; special daughter-in-law, Candace, Saginaw Twp. She also leaves 12 grandchildren that she helped raise, Jerrelle and Lee Lee Wilson, Shar Clea Wilson, Xavier Williams, Matthew, Jourdain and Andrea Williams, Terrance and Donvan Tolliver, Tenail, Eric and Kent, Detroit, MI; 11 great-grands; god-children, Addie Jones, Betty Clyatt, Genice Williams, Kenny Harris, Louis Harvey, Jr. Lynette Durham and Karen Essex; sisters-in-law, Mae Ollie Wilson, Saginaw, Lottie Wilson, Calhoun City, MS and Bobbie Jean Thomas, Memphis, TN. She also leaves other relatives and friends Ruthie Henton and Cremonia Gibson, including special friends of 67 years, Angeline Ryans and Rosetta Haywood and Ms. Annie McMillian, Beverline Wilson and Mrs. Juanita Drake, her ride or die for all they did all the way to the end. Mrs. Ruth Wilson was a preceded in death by her devoted husband, Clendry Wilson, Jr.; sons, Clendry III and Tom Sykes; parents Joe and Lula Gordon; brothers, Joe S. Gordan and Johnnie Powell; sister, Gwen Welch; father and mother- in-law, Clendry Wilson, Sr. and Freddie Wilson; god-sons, Willie Williams, Jr. and DeWayne Williams.
Funeral service will take place at 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 30, 2024, Messiah Missionary Baptist Church, 2615 Williamson Rd., Saginaw, MI 48601. Pastor Otis Washington will officiate Interment will take place in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 S. Washington Ave., Saginaw, MI 48601. Visitation will take place from 9:00 AM until the time of service.
