Ruth Woodard Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by A.W. Rich Funeral Home - Essex Junction on Aug. 9, 2024.
Ruth (Walker) Woodard, 78, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2024 at McClure Miller Respite House in Colchester, with her loving family by her side. She was born on September 6, 1945 daughter of the late George and Marion (Eldridge) Walker.
Ruth grew up in Nanuet, NY and graduated from Nanuet high school in 1964. She was a loving and devoted mother who created a home for her two sons in Essex Junction, VT. She fulfilled her passion of helping others by graduating from the Fanny Allen School of Practical Nursing as an LPN in 1984. She proudly served the residents of Green Mountain Nursing Home in Colchester for over 30 years.
Ruth married Tom Woodard Sr. on December 12, 1992 and they spent 30 years together until his passing. If anyone knew Ruth, they would know that not only were the people in her life important to her, but also the animals. Her family always consisted of her 4 legged members. She spent a great deal of her adult life raising and breeding Golden Retrievers. Ruth remained a fierce advocate and animal lover until her passing. Ruth was an ardent New York Yankees fan and one of her fondest memories was taking her grandson, Joe, to Yankee Stadium. She looked forward every summer to going to her family's camp on Lake Elmore and attending family reunion. She will be remembered most fondly for her loving and caring nature and her ability to see the best in everyone.
Ruth is survived by her sons, David Pfingst and wife Christina, Jason Pfingst and wife Renee, her brother, Martin Walker and wife Debbie, sister Anne Dickson and husband Don, brother-in-law Allen Jacob, grandson Joseph Pfingst, many nieces, nephews, cousins, close friends and her special beloved dog Jubilee.
Ruth was also predeceased by her husband Thomas Woodard, Sr. and sister Jane Richmond.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday August 23, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. until the hour of service at 7:00 p.m. at A W Rich Funeral Home – Essex Chapel with Reverend Elizabeth Griffin officiating. Inurnment will be in the family lot in Andersonville Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
