Ruth Yoder Obituary
July 13, 1929 - July 29, 2022
Mrs. Ruth Hyder Yoder of Concord, passed away Friday, July 29, 2022, at her home.
Ruth was born July 13, 1929, in Concord, to the late Lawrence King Kiser and Margaret Hudson Kiser. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Monroe Hyder.
Ruth graduated from Appalachian State University and received a Master's in Education from University of Tennessee Chattanooga.
She was a dedicated teacher, teaching elementary school for 39 years in North Carolina and Tennessee. She rose to the top of the Tennessee career ladder and was chosen as the teacher of the year in 1988. She was a very active member of Bethany U.M.C. in Gloucester Point, Va. She was a member of Central U.M.C. in Concord.
Ruth is survived by her husband, Robert E. Yoder; son, Mike Hyder; sister, Judy K. Boger; stepchildren, Carolyn Yoder, Joseph Yoder, Craig Yoder; stepgrandchildren, Bryan Yoder, Brent Yoder, Caroline Yoder, Madeline Schmidt, Grace Alexander; six great-grandchildren; nieces, Kelly Bunce, Dana Smith and Heather Smith; great-nieces and â€"nephews, Zach Smith, Alison Smith, Brooke Robins, Brandon Smith, Holly Smith; and three great-great-nieces and -nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice and Palliative care or a charity of your choice.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Aunt Ruth was an angel on earth! She was such a beautiful person inside and out, and I am already missing her so ver y much! She was such an extraordinary, positive and encouraging person, that I was so blessed to have in my corner. I treasure every letter, conversations and childhood visits that I was blessed to have with her. To say she is missed is too underwhelming. My deepest condolences to the family, and all who feel her loss.

I have always referred to Mrs Hyder as one of my best and favorite teachers. She introduced me to Roman history and a world I had never known.
