Rutha Carmen Adamek

Rutha Carmen Adamek (Porietis) April 6, 1945-December 16, 2025. Born in Poking, Germany, two months before the end of World War Two. Rutha immigrated to the U.S. with her parents Vilis and Zina at five years of age and grew up in Maywood, Illinois. She attended University of Illinois and Southern Illinois University where Rutha met her husband Robert to whom she was married for fifty-five years. They raised two sons, Gabriel and Brandon, who Rutha often referred to as her greatest achievement. She is survived by her husband, two sons, her cousin Inta, her childhood friend Zané, and extended family and friends. A memorial service alongside her parents at Latvian Memorial Park Cemetery, Tannersville, NY, is planned for Memorial Day weekend 2026.
