Ruthann King

Ruthann King, age 79, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 surrounded by her family.
Ruthann graduated from Claymont High School in 1962. She worked as a legal secretary until she retired in 2007. Ruthann's passion was photography. She loved photographing landscapes, stills, friends, and family. She won several awards for her work. Her most treasured award was for her "The Hands of Time" photo which was on display with the Camera Club of Wilmington. Second to spending time behind the lens of her camera, Ruthann loved nothing more than cooking big meals for her family at holidays, special occasions, and sometimes just because. She will be remembered not only as an amazing cook but as a wonderful friend, and cherished mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother.
In addition to her parents, Frederick Sr. and Doris Calhoun, Ruthann was predeceased by her husband David R. King, and brother Richard A. Calhoun.
She is survived by her beloved daughter Tracie Sheehan, granddaughters Devin Sheehan and Alyson Sheehan; great-grandchildren Kaya Mae, Ava Grace, and McKenzie June; brother Frederick Calhoun, Jr; step-daughters Dana Summers and Allison Hagen; as well as three nieces and a nephew.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 12 from 10-11 am at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803 with funeral at 11 am. Interment will follow at Lawncroft Cemetery.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the nursing staff on 3C at Christiana Hospital.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Ruthann's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
