Ryan Rawlins Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Premier Funeral Services - Salt Lake City on Dec. 11, 2025.
Ryan Lynn Rawlins, 53, passed away suddenly on December 8, 2025, from complications due to pneumonia.

Ryan was born on October 21, 1972, in Logan, Utah, and grew up in Providence, Utah.

During high school, Ryan joined the color guard with the marching band-initially to meet girls-and it worked. There he met his future wife, Lynette Frank, and made many lifelong friends. Color guard remained a cherished part of his life.

Ryan was active in Scouting and proudly earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He later shared that love by serving as a leader when his own sons were in the program.

Ryan was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a deep and abiding testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. He served a mission for the church in the Portugal Lisbon South Mission, where he grew a deep love for the people, culture, and language. Throughout his life, he continued speaking Portuguese and especially loved singing church hymns-loud and proud-in the language he cherished.

After returning home, Ryan married Lynette on July 9, 1994, in the Logan LDS Temple. Together they welcomed two sons, Luke and Ben, into their family. They made their home in Eagle Mountain for the past 18 years, where they built many valued friendships and came to love their friends as family.

He enlisted in the Utah Army National Guard as a Portuguese linguist, serving from April 1995 to March 2003. He was proud to be a veteran and to use his skills to serve his country.

Ryan began his career as a draftsman trained in AutoCAD before moving into teaching and implementing Autodesk software. He later transitioned into email security with Proofpoint, where he was thrilled to put his Portuguese skills to good use. His passion for technology led him to earn a master's degree in Cybersecurity, ultimately guiding him to his position with NICE inContact, where he was employed at the time of his passing.

Ryan loved hats of all kinds and could often be seen wearing his trademark beaver-felt fedora. More recently, he added a new favorite to his collection-the Santa hat-which he wore with pride and joy.

In recent years, one of his greatest joys was being a band dad and supporting his sons' marching band. One of the last things he did-something that brought him pure joy-was dressing as Santa for the Color Guard's Winter Fundraiser. He even performed a rifle routine using his own high-school rifle. In the video, he is beaming; he loved those kids and loved being part of their world.

He will be sorely missed and leaves a tremendous hole in his family and community. We know he is taking his place in God's marching band. We'll miss you, Ryan, and we know you'll still be cheering us on from the other side.

Ryan is survived by his wife, Lynette Rawlins; his parents, Ray and Rosemary Rawlins; his siblings, Robyn Rawlins, Rodney (Debbie) Rawlins, and Rowena (Randy) Bunce; and his beloved sons, Luke and Ben Rawlins.
