Ryan Richard Tarby
August 5, 1993 - April 16, 2025
Ryan Richard Tarby, 31, of Pomona, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2025. Beloved son of Robert and Renee Tarby, Ryan was born August 5, 1993. He grew up in Oceanville amid a loving family including his older brother, Bobby; grandparents, James and Roberta Tarby and Richard and Vida Calimer. He graduated from Assumption Regional Catholic School in 2007 and St. Augustine Preparatory in 2011. From the time he could walk, Ryan loved wielding a hammer. He eventually joined the Carpenters Union, where he found a welcome home for his various skills, talents, interests, and his sharp wit. A hard worker and jokester colleague, he was loved by his brothers and sisters in the Brotherhood of the Carpenter's Union, and his family is grateful for their love and support. Ryan was an avid outdoorsman. Anything with feathers, fur, or scales was fair game; Ryan stalked, fed, hunted, trapped, netted, and reeled in more than his share of perch, tuna, flounder, crabs, ducks, geese, racoons, deer, coyotes and the occasional groundhog. In summer 2024, he checked off a bucket-list sailfish. He loved sun and salt spray and swamp and low tide. He loved the ocean at dawn and at sunset, a fishing pole in his hand. The defining core of Ryan's life was his family. He was a loving and devoted son and brother. He shone as an uncle: he was ever-ready with a huge smile, uncle-jokes, and giant bear hugs and play punches for his nieces and nephews. He relished his role as godfather to "Baby" Vincent, and could always be found at the kids table of any gathering, rustling up trouble, laughter, and fun. He is predeceased by his grandparents, James and Roberta Tarby; grandparents, Richard and Vida Calimer; his Aunt Donna Simpkins; and his Uncle Bill Gabriel. He leaves behind loving parents, Bob Sr. and Renee (Calimer) Tarby; his older brother, Bob Tarby, Jr.; sister-in-law, Betsy; and nieces and nephews, Mae, Owen, Clara, and Colin Tarby; his aunt, Terri Gabriel; his cousins, Morgan and Vince Granese and their sons, Vincent and Gabriel; Aunt Pam and Uncle Ricky Calimer; Aunt Linda and Uncle Rodney Calimer; cousins, and countless friends, colleagues, and acquaintances.
