Ryan Whaley Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Radney Funeral Home - Alexander City on Dec. 6, 2025.
Funeral Service for Mr. Ryan Scott Whaley, 33, of Daviston, Alabama, will be Sunday, December 7, 2025, at 3:00 pm at the New Site Harmony Church. Keith Lightsey and Rev. David Sherrell will officiate. Burial will follow in the Old Harmony Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 7, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at New Site Harmony Church.

Ryan Scott Whaley, a cherished and devoted family man, left this world too soon but left behind a legacy of love, laughter, and selflessness. Born into the loving arms of Scott Whaley and the late Kristi Greene, Ryan's life was a testament to the joy and kindness he brought into the lives of everyone he met. He radiated a light that would guide him throughout his 33 years of life.

A proud graduate of Sylacauga High School, class of 2011, where he played on the football and golf team, Ryan carried the spirit of small-town community with him as he embarked on a fulfilling career with Alabama Power. For 13 years, he dedicated himself as a lineman, not just to his work but to the larger family he found among his colleagues. His commitment to his profession was matched only by his dedication to his faith, living as a true example of Christian values through his actions and interactions with others.

Ryan's heart was always fullest when he was surrounded by his beloved family. He leaves behind his wife of 6 years, Hayden Whaley; daughter, Hadley Waites; son, Hudson Whaley; father, Scott Whaley; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dale and Donna McCain; sister, Kendall (James) Lodge; brother, Aiden Whaley; grandmothers, Amy Barnett and Marnetha McCain; grandfather, Jimmy Whaley, a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, a niece and nephew, and work family at Alabama Power.

Ryan was a man of many passions, with a particular love for the Lord and family. Whether he was playing golf, outdoors or cheering on the Alabama Crimson Tide football team, he embraced every moment with enthusiasm and joy. Family vacations to the beach and mountains were treasured times, filled with laughter and the creation of memories that will be cherished forever.

Those who knew Ryan will remember him as the epitome of kindness, always quick with a joke and a smile that could light up a room. His selfless nature meant he was often the first to lend a hand, and his legacy will be the countless lives he touched with his generosity and warmth.

Ryan was preceded in death by his mother, Kristi Greene; step-mother, Brandy Whaley; his grandfathers, Roger Barnett, Ellis Benton Kelley and Leon McCain; and his grandmother, Betty Whaley.

As we say goodbye to Ryan, we celebrate a life lived with passion, a life filled with love, and a life that, though far too short, was lived to the fullest. His spirit will continue to inspire us, and his memory will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. Rest in peace, dear Ryan, until we meet again.
