I'm so sorry for his passing. May the God of all comfort hear your cries and rescue you with comfort and peace. (Psalms145:18,19)

S.I. touched millions of lives in ways that can never be explained. My time with his media empire began with BRIDE'S in New York City then at THE NEW YORKER in their satellite office in San Francisco. I was offered an opportunity with GQ and went another direction I regret. I remember reading about his life as I sat in a park one day on Staten Island years ago where I lived for a short time. I was in awe then and now. Thank you S.I. for your brilliance. Rest in peace.

Mr. Newhouse definitely put his stamp on American paper media. His influence through magazines affected both modern American culture and how it was perceived globally. Our condolences to his family. May God strengthen each of you during this time. (Psalms 55:22)

I began my journalism career as an intern at the New Orleans Times-Picayune. After my internship I became a general assignment reporter, remaining with The Picayune for the first year of my long career. I never had the pleasure of meeting Mr Newhouse, but always took pride in the fact that I was employed by a Newhouse paper, and respected what the Newhouse family did for the journalism profession. Today I thank the Newhouse family for my start, and offer my condolences for their loss.
