Sadie Kirkendall

Sadie Kirkendall, 79, of Central Square, passed away on May 18, 2025, in Syracuse, NY. Born on March 31, 1946, in Armathwaite, TN, Sadie’s life was defined by her unwavering commitment to family, her profession, and her compassionate spirit.

Sadie had a distinguished career that spanned multiple decades. For 20 years, she owned and operated S & R Cleaning Service, where she dedicated herself to providing quality cleaning services to homes and businesses alike. Her professional journey also included 11 years at St. Joseph's Hospital, where she began as a trainer and educator in transportation and Infectious Disease. Additionally, she spent five years at Carrier Corporation, further showcasing her diverse skill set and dedication to her work.

Beyond her career, Sadie was widely known for her compassion and love for animals. She often tended to animals near her home and within her community, reflecting her caring nature. Sadie's personality was characterized by her selflessness; she always put others before herself, earning her the admiration and affection of those around her.

Sadie was also an accomplished author, with her work titled "Throw Away" . In her personal life, she enjoyed creating family albums, organizing gatherings, and participating in activities such as playing cards, bingo, dancing with her sisters and bowling in various leagues. She treasured the moments spent traveling with her family during her children's younger years, creating lasting memories that would be cherished forever.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 37 years, Rick Kirkendall; her children, Tammie (Fred) Green, Ronald Bryant, Sommer (John) Merkel, Timothy (Debbie) Kirkendall, and Anita (Jeff) Barrella; her brother, Royce Draughn; aunt, Roxie; as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. 

She was predeceased by her parents, Floyd and Virginia (Cote) Draughn and her siblings, Hazel, Ethel, and Bobby.

Visitation will be held on May 23, 2025, from 2PM - 5PM, followed by a funeral service beginning at 5PM, all at New Comer Cremations & Funerals located at 705 N Main St, Syracuse, NY 13212.

Memorial contributions may be made in Sadie's memory to CNY SPCA.
