Salim Raza

Dr. Salim D. Raza was a devoted physician, loving husband, father, and proud grandfather whose life was defined by service, compassion, and quiet excellence.

Dr. Raza came to the United States in 1966 with his young bride, Tasnim Raza, while completing his medical residency. Driven by a deep commitment to healing and learning, he devoted himself fully to the practice of medicine and became a United States citizen in 1974. His career was marked by distinction, culminating in his service as Chief of Surgery at both St. Joseph's Hospital in Cheektowaga, New York, and Sisters of Charity Hospital in Buffalo, New York.

Known to colleagues and staff alike as kind, friendly, outgoing, and mild-mannered, Dr. Raza was deeply respected not only for his surgical skill, but for his character. He continually sought to hone his craft in order to best serve his patients, giving each one careful attention and compassion to ensure the best possible recovery. His gentle presence and unwavering dedication left a lasting impact on countless lives.

Dr. Raza was also a devoted family man. His eldest daughter, followed in his footsteps and became a physician specializing in family medicine. She continues to practice in the Phoenix area, serving families with the same professionalism, kindness, and gentle care that defined her father's work. His son, born in 1970, pursued a career in education after moving to Los Angeles. He married Sarah Raye, and together they raised three children: Cooper, Camille, and Jace.

As a grandfather, Dr. Raza took great pride and joy in his grandchildren. He always made time to listen, observe, and support them as they grew, cherishing every moment spent together.
