Sally Hunter Boardman

Sally Hunter Price Boardman of Madison, Georgia, passed away December 12, 2023. Sally was born December 12, 1948, in Nuremberg, Germany, to the late Joseph Fields Price, Jr., and Martha Webb Price.

Sally graduated from Wheaton High School (Maryland) and attended Syracuse University in nursing. She later earned her Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Georgia. Sally had a vibrant piano and voice studio and taught many children and adults how to make and love music. She was an active member of the Athens Music Teachers Association, and she sang in the Athens Master Chorale and rang with Bells of Northeast Georgia.

Sally directed children's choirs in just about every church she attended, most recently at Madison Presbyterian Church (MPC), where she was a faithful member of the chancel and handbell choirs. She also served in various positions in Presbyterian Women at the Presbytery and local level.

Sally was also well known by her handiwork. Her creations won many first prizes at the Georgia National Fair, where she was honored as an artist-in-residence. She was a longtime member of the Peachtree Handspinners Guild, spinning yarn from wool, and constantly working on projects. Sally was always willing to help novices learn the craft.

Besides the many unique sweaters and other goodies she made for her family, Sally made blankets for Project Linus and quilts for MPC's graduating seniors. She was known as The Sock Lady for the many pairs she made for an Atlanta homeless shelter.

Sally is survived by her husband of 33 years, David Robeson Boardman; daughter Martha Anne Timberlake Greenway (Charles) and her three daughters, Olivia, Victoria and Magdalena Ciganek; son Nathan William Timberlake (Elizabeth) and their three children, Natalie, Zachary and Andrew Timberlake; brother Joseph Bennett Price (Marguerite) and brother Stephen Bayard Price (Wendy). She was preceded in death by her younger sister, Martha Ruth Price Gliebe, and by her stepmother, Lydie P. Price.

A celebration of life service will be held Sunday, January 14, 3:00 p.m., at Madison Presbyterian Church. A reception will follow.
