Sally Carrillo Chavez
Sally Carrillo Chavez, born in Manhattan, New York, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2024, at her home in Pearland, TX. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, Sally was known for her unwavering love and fierce protection of her family. Family was her highest value, and she dedicated her life to nurturing and supporting those she loved.
Sally had a vibrant and active life filled with passion and accomplishments. She loved cooking, fishing, and softball, and had a talent for coaching. She began her career as a telephone operator before relocating to Pearland, where she managed a business alongside her husband Joseph, her sister Hopie, and her brother-in-law Joe. She was instrumental in founding the Pearland Girls Softball Association (PGSA) and spent many years coaching young athletes, including her own granddaughter. Sally played on a co-ed softball team called the Guzzlers and her ladies team the Skaggs sharing her love of the game with others. She was also an active member of the alter and bereavement committees at St. Helen's Church, providing comfort and support to those in their time of need.
Sally never missed a game, concert, or recital involving her beloved grandchildren. Her dedication to her family and her generosity of spirit left an indelible mark on all who knew her. She gave so much of herself and will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
Sally was preceded in death by her parents, Morris and Tomasa Carrillo, and her siblings Consuelo (Hopie) Carrillo, Virginia Morales, Frances Carrillo, Morris Carrillo,Jr. and John Carrillo. She leaves behind her devoted husband of 63 years, Joseph Chavez; her loving daughter Carolyn Chavez Price and her husband Bernard Price; her cherished grandchildren Joseph Price and Megan Price-Schluns and her husband Kyle Schluns; her brother Peter Carrillo; and numerous nieces and nephews.
