Sally Clayman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service - Goldsboro on Mar. 29, 2026.
Sally Ruth Brown Clayman, 87, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, March 27, 2026, at her home, surrounded by the love of her family.

Sally was born in Wayne County on June 2, 1938, to the late Dr. C. R. Brown and Ruth Tyler Brown. She spent much of her childhood in the homes at Cherry Hospital, where her father faithfully served as a physician.

During her college years, Sally had the unique opportunity to participate in the outdoor drama The Lost Colony in Manteo, where she even worked alongside Andy Griffith-an experience she fondly remembered.

A gifted and expressive artist, Sally found great joy in painting and sharing her creativity with others. Several of her beautiful works were sold from her personal collection, a testament to her talent and passion. She also found peace and happiness tending to her flowers, taking pride in her yard. Yet, above all, Sally treasured time spent with her family, whom she loved deeply.

She will be remembered as a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a doting grandmother whose warmth and kindness touched all who knew her.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at 2:30 p.m. in Wayne Memorial Park, with Pastor Bill Rose officiating.

Sally is survived by her daughters, Darcy C. Lancaster and husband, Carl, and Lori C. Whitfield and husband, Al; her son, David R. Clayman and wife, Lori; her grandchildren, Tyler Mills and wife, Emily, Taylor Mills and wife, Jillian, Noah Clayman, Nikki Clayman, and Carly Lancaster; and her great-grandchildren, Michael Mills, Ryder Mills, Raylin Mills, Alice Mills, Evie Mills, and Declan Mills. She is also survived by her lifelong friend, Ann Watson.

In addition to her parents, Sally was preceded in death by her husband, Alan Blair Clayman, brother, Clyde R. Brown, and her grandson, Alexander Clayman.
