My memories of Sally go back at least to 1940 when we started first grade at Greenville Central School. We were seated alphabetically, so, Sally's desk was right in front of mine for six years of grade school and even for some junior high and high school classes. We had many conversations over those years. It made my day when Sally turned around to talk with me.
I recall one conversation when we were in the 9th grade. I had signed up to take Vocational Ag. She asked me if I wanted to end up like one of my neighbors who had a farm near ours. I took VoAg in high school, and even taught VoAg for one year before I decided to stay in the Navy. Sally had a very big impact on my life.
Whenever I made a trip back to Greenville, I made plans for my wife and I to have lunch with Sally and John - usually in Greenville or Freehold. When I tried to make those arrangement for a trip in October 2024, I tried to contact Sally and learned of her passing in January. I will definitely miss our yearly visits!
I will miss Sally.
