Sally Hoeffner Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Feb. 7 to Feb. 11, 2024.
Palm Bay - Sally Joan Hoeffner (69) of Palm Bay passed away on January 28, 2024, and went to see her God. She always referred to Him as "My God" because of her very personal and close relationship with Him. She was devoted to serving those in need. She was born in Fort Pierce, FL and at an early age learned that she had a gift for caring. Sally served for many years as the Director of Pastoral Ministries at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Palm Bay. Her ministries included serving those in hospitals, nursing homes, and the homebound who were in need of pastoral care. She was especially caring, compassionate, and supportive to so very many families during those difficult times of illness and bereavement. She made life's most difficult moments just a little easier.

Sally was born in Fort Pierce, FL and lived in both Cohocton, NY and Ft. Pierce, Fl. The family had two farms and traveled to NY in the summer to help with harvest of potatoes. Sally attended St. Anastasia Catholic School and John Carroll Catholic High School in Fort Pierce. She received an Associates of Science Degree from Indian River Community College. Sally started her professional career as a lab technician at Indian River Memorial Hospital where she was promoted to Night Lab Supervisor. She moved to Orlando where she worked in the lab at Orlando Regional Medical Center and attended Barry University and she received an Associate of Arts degree from Valencia Community College and attended both Barry University and the University of Central Florida. She earned a Certificate in Lay Pastoral Ministry through the Diocese of Orlando which qualified her to become the Director of Pastoral Ministries at St. Joseph Catholic Church.

She enjoyed traveling, fishing, and going out to eat with friends and family. She had a beautiful voice and enjoyed playing the guitar and banjo, especially at family get-togethers. Sally was the one who always called everyone in the family on their birthday. She was loved by all who knew her, especially her nieces and nephews who looked forward to her jellies and apple butter at Christmas time. She will be sadly missed by all.

She was accompanied in her death by her brother, Reverend Robert Hoeffner. She is preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Margaret Hoeffner, and by her sister, Patricia Hoeffner. She is survived by her siblings Thomas Hoeffner, (Barbara), William Hoeffner, Susan Trundle, (Terry), Gerry "Max" Hoeffner, (Mendi), Lisa Hoeffner. Nieces and nephews, Kevin Hoeffner, (Debbie), Jennie Capezza,(Louis), Sam Hoeffner, Molly Hoeffner, Amy McDonald,(Ken), Tiffany Siler,( Allen), Justin Crossett,( Malle), Casey Gaines, (Andy), Maggie Summers,( Spencer), Neil Hoeffner,( Ngoc), Vince Hoeffner, and Mac Hoeffner.

Prayer Service and visitation for Reverend Robert Hoeffner and Sally Hoeffner will be Monday, February 19th at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Palm Bay, FL. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service beginning at 6:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated by the Most Reverend John Gerard Noonan on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at 11 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist, 5655 Stadium Pkwy, Viera, FL 32940.

Livestreaming is available for both services through St. Joseph Catholic Church and St. John the Evangelist websites. Arrangements are under the direction of Haisley Funeral Home, Fort Pierce. An online guest book may be signed at www.haisleyfuneralhome.com
