Sally J. Moore

Bay City, Michigan

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister passed away peacefully Thursday, January 29, 2026, at Toni & Trish House, just 19 days after celebrating her 90th birthday. She was born on January 10, 1936, in Bay City, to the late Otis and Harriet (Matyskela) Berthiaume.

Sally was a proud graduate of T.L. Handy High School, Class of 1953. Known for her strong work ethic, she was truly a hard working woman who always stayed busy. She was also a devoted mother and grandmother who never missed an opportunity to support her family. Whether it was school activities, practices, or sporting events, Grandma was always there-driving her children and grandchildren wherever they needed to go and cheering them on every step of the way. Over the years, Sally was employed by Kuhlman Electric, worked for the Michigan Employment Security Commission (MESC) for 18 years, worked at Heinz Real Estate, and later was employed at The Home Depot in Bay City.

A lifelong member of St. Maria Goretti Parish, now St. Catherine of Siena Parish, Sally's faith was an important part of her life. She took great pride in caring for her yard and gardens, spending countless hours tending to them. Independent and adventurous, she enjoyed taking road trips-sometimes even on her own-to random places such as Florida and Tennessee. Sally also cherished the friendships she shared through her long standing Handy High card club.

She had a keen eye for the unique and unusual, enjoyed rock collecting, and loved collecting antiques, including old bottles and other one of a kind treasures.

Sally is survived by her loving children: Chuck (Sheri) Moore, Kevin (Jennifer) Moore, Brian Moore, and Mary Jo (Brian) Vos. She was a proud grandmother to Coby (Sarah) Moore, Lauren (Austin Fenskie) Moore, Kristen Moore, Hunter Allabaugh, Chloe Allabaugh, Rachel Vos, and Ashlyn Vos and great grandmother to Braylen Fenskie. She is also survived by her brother, James Berthiaume, along with a niece, Cheryl Berthiaume, and nephews, Joe Berthiaume and Jeff (Kathy Fiddler) Berthiaume.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Lisa Anne Moore; a grandson, Chase Arthur Moore; and a sister-in-law, Lois Berthiaume.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Bay Shores Senior Care and Rehab Center, especially Amanda in physical therapy and aides Jennifer and Melissa, for the compassionate and attentive care they provided to Sally during her time there. Their kindness and dedication brought great comfort and meant more to our family than words can express. We are also deeply thankful to AdvisaCare Home Health and Hospice, especially Julie, Kim J, Kelly, Wayne, Kim E, and Jessica. As well as the staff at the Toni & Trish House for the welcoming, home-like atmosphere and the exceptional compassion shown to Sally and our family. Their care, support, and empathy during this difficult time will always be remembered and appreciated.

The Funeral Service for Sally will be held Monday, February 2, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. at Squires Funeral Home, 211 North Henry Street, Bay City, Michigan 48706. Reverend James Wm Bessert will preside. Private interment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Monday from 2:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Toni and Trish House 4699 11 Mile Road, Auburn, Michigan 48611. You are encouraged to share a photo, story, or expression of sympathy with the family on Sally's Tribute Wall of her obituary @ squiresfuneralhome.com
