Sally Ormes Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Horn Family Funeral Home & Cremations on Dec. 30, 2025.
Sally Ann Ormes, age 74, passed away on Monday, December 29, 2025. She was born on Friday, February 2, 1951.

Sally was a lifetime resident of East Texas, spending her years in Daingerfield and Lone Star. She was well known throughout the community for her many years of work at the Lone Star Cafe and Nuway, also known to many as "Sally's." Through her work and friendships, Sally became a familiar and cherished presence to all who knew her.

She loved the simple pleasures of life. Sally enjoyed gambling, which made her yearly family trips to Las Vegas especially meaningful to her. She was an avid reader, particularly fond of romance novels, and she loved watching Hallmark movies. She took pride in her cars, enjoyed cooking and baking, and treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren.

Sally was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Ormes; her parents, Oscar "Bud" Goolsby and Keyron Audrey Warren; and her sisters, Jesse Mergal, Ruby Truitt, and Oleen Warren.

She is survived by her children, Karen Barnard of Daingerfield and Sharon Beasley of Daingerfield, along with her beloved "son-in-love," Jason Beasley. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Alekza Kirkham of Daingerfield, Jacob Barnard of Hughes Springs, Thomas Smith IV and wife Sarah of Daingerfield, Natalie Beasley of Daingerfield, Neve Beasley of Daingerfield, and Emily Beasley of Daingerfield; and her great-grandchild, Remington Menhennett of Daingerfield. She is also survived by her siblings, Martha Robinson, Carolyn Tucker, Judy Dorris, and Johnny Goolsby.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, in the chapel of Horn Family Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 2, 2026, in the chapel of Horn Family Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Hughes Springs.
