Sally E. Trey, 76, of Newark, Delaware passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, October 15, 2023. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio on July 18, 1947, she was the daughter of the late David and Rosemary (Deimling) Cooke.
Upon marrying in 1967, Sally and her husband, Bill, moved to West Virginia for his career with the DuPont Company and eventually made Delaware their home.
She volunteered with the Red Cross and Heartland Hospice House and worked in Pastoral Care with the former Medical Center of Delaware (Christiana Care). Sally also prided herself on being a devoted and caring homemaker.
A talented musician, Sally served as a vocalist for many weddings, funerals, and weekly Masses, having been affiliated with several parishes throughout the Diocese of Wilmington. She was a person of strong Catholic faith.
Sally will be dearly missed by her husband of 56 years, William M. Trey; her children, Christine Pastro, Jennifer Sliney (Kenneth), Matthew Trey, and Nancy Temple (Jeffery); her grandchildren, Michael, William and Christopher Pastro, Meghan Hennigan (Connor), Julia and Jeffrey Sliney, Jackson, Carter, and Joseph Trey, Annie, Sarah, Matthew and Claire Temple; her great-grandchildren, Oliver and Cecilia Hennigan. She is also survived by her sister, Barbara Cooke; and her brother, Stephen Cooke (Debbie). She was preceded in death by her sisters Nancy Cooke and Janet Stewart.
Family and friends are invited to the visitation at Corpus Christi Church, 905 New Road, Elsmere on Friday, October 20 from 9:00 – 10:45 AM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM.
Interment will be held privately in All Saints Cemetery on Saturday, October 21.
