Salvador Reyes Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sunset Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory - Brownsville on Feb. 13, 2026.
Salvador Reyes, 87, passed away peacefully, in God's loving friendship, surrounded by his devoted wife and children on February 11th, in Brownsville, TX.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Pablo and Maria Reyes, Margarita Marfil (sister) and Santiago Reyes (brother) from Monterrey, Nuevo Leon.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Victoria J. Reyes, his three children-Elizabeth de la Cruz of McAllen, Claudio (Lisa Marie) Reyes, of Brownsville and Jessica Reyes of Houston, TX. He is also survived by his three grandsons, Adriel (Dr Erin Michell) and Dr. Aaron Daniel de la Cruz of San Antonio and Claudio Reyes, Jr of College Station, TX. Mr. Reyes was blessed with a great granddaughter Isabel Sofia of San Antonio, TX.

Mr. Reyes started his career as a junior salesman for El Aguila Cigarette Corp, covering the central territories of Mexico. He then extended his opportunity as an x-ray technologist at Hospital Muguerza also in Monterrey, NL.

After marrying the love of his life, he was employed at the Northwestern Steel Mill located in Rock Falls, IL. Upon relocating to Brownsville, he was a crane operator for Marathon LeTourneau. In his later career, he became a salesman/manager for Auto Zone and O'Reilley Auto Parts.

Mr. Reyes had many favorite passions which included dancing all night with his wife, fishing with his son, daughter in law and grandsons, and celebrating with his entire family. He was a modern renaissance man as his creative outlets included poetry, painting and creative construction. He communed with and served the Lord at Holy Family Catholic Church.

There will never be another man like him. He lives in our hearts and minds, forever.

Visitation is scheduled from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 14th, 2026, with a Prayer Service at 6:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Services conclude at the end of the evening.
