GENEVA - Salvatore Fratto, 90, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at home, with his family by his side.

Salvatore "Sully" was born on June 2, 1934, in Taverna, Italy, and was a son of the late Carmine and Rosina (Sanzi) Fratto. Granite was his passion in life. He owned and operated, along with his brothers, The Fratto Brothers, Fratto Construction and Geneva Granite. Sully's dedication to his work was only surpassed by his unwavering devotion to his beloved wife and family. He took immense pride in his craft, creating beautiful granite structures that stand as a testament to his exceptional skill and relentless hard work. In his free time, he found joy in cultivating his garden, visiting the family business, and spending precious moments with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Sully was entrusted with the daunting task of leaving behind everything and everyone he knew to expand the business in Georgia, with his loving wife by his side. Not only did he succeed, but he also forged lifelong friendships along the way. He cherished these memories and friendships like family, always holding them close to his heart and treasuring them deeply. His innovative methods and contributions to the industry continue to inspire and guide practices today.

His legacy is one of love, dedication, and generosity. Salvatore's warmth and kindness touched countless lives, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His family extends their heartfelt thanks to the community for their unwavering support during this time.

He is survived by his wife, Rose Marie (Oberdorf) Fratto of Geneva; daughters, Lesley (Tom) Taylor of Geneva and Jean (Dan) Nardozzi of Geneva; siblings, Ralph Fratto of Geneva, Mario (Janette) Fratto of Seneca Falls, Carmela Sanzi of Italy, Teresa Fratto of Geneva, Josephine Pullano of Rochester, Anna Massa of Geneva, and Rita Casey of Canandaigua; grandchildren, Stephen (Emily) Maher, Thomas (Sara) Taylor, Brianna (Mike) Uvanni, and Mikenna Taylor; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Salvatore was predeceased by his daughter, Rosemaria Fratto; siblings, Joseph Fratto, Anthony Fratto, Sebastian Fratto, Joseph Sanzi, Carmella Hall, and Rose Chindamo.

My sincere condolences to the entire Fratto family, I first met Sully around 1990 when I was on the Geneva City Council, he had come up from Georgia to correct spellings of names of war heroes that were on monuments in Pulteney Park, Sully was very skilled at what he did and took every step imaginable to make sure the job was done right and at no cost to the city, thanks again Sully and may you rest in peace, Joe DeCicca
