After a long and prosperous life, Salvatore Pallozzi, 91, passed away peacefully early Sunday morning November 23, 2025, at home in
Concord, Massachusetts surrounded by his loving family.
"Sal" was born June 1, 1934, in Fitchburg Mass and was the son of Josephine Palletta and Salvatore Pallozzi, immigrants from the Abruzzi region of Italy.
He was raised on Beech Street Lane and played in the nearby quarry of Rollstone hill with his older brother Alfred and friends. Sal graduated from Fitchburg High School in 1953 where he played on the football team. In high school he met his wife and soulmate, Agnes Kielty and they were married on August 4, 1956.
Sal attended Worcester Junior College before obtaining his Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell, formerly known as Lowell Tech. He later completed graduate studies at Northeastern University in Boston. Sal had a rewarding Mechanical Engineering career as a sound and vibration specialist. He worked at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Draper Laboratory where he assisted in the design of the Apollo 11 spacecraft guidance system. He later worked for Raytheon, GTE Sylvania defense systems, and finally Ametek.
Sal and Agnes moved to Concord in 1962 where they raised their three children. Sal loved his children very much and actively participated in their formative years through sports and many activities at the Thoreau club. Sal especially enjoyed summer vacations he took his family to AMC Cold River Camp in the White Mountains of North Chatham, NH. He loved hiking and the outdoors, was an avid golfer and a competitive tennis player. He was an accomplished champion in both sports. He was a member of the Concord Country Club for over 35 years. During his golfing years he had 4 holes in one, 2 at Concord and 2 in Florida.
During his retirement years, Sal and his wife spent 21 winters at Pelican Sound in Estero, Florida where he enjoyed the birds, nature, and wildlife of Southwest Florida. In his later years he authored a book about his childhood experiences.
Sal had a magnetic and charming personality, and he was someone who others gravitated towards because of his kindness, intelligence, and keen sense of humor. He loved classical music and would often play it upon waking at 5am. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Sal was predeceased by both his parents and brother Alfred. He leaves behind his wife Agnes of 69 years, his daughter Lorna Hayward (Matthew) of Wellesley, Mass, his son, Dean (Beverly) of Underhill VT, and his son, John (Sandra) of Acton, Mass. Sal also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Julia and Andrew Hayward and Alexander and Dani Pallozzi.
Relatives and friends will gather for a Funeral Mass on Tuesday, December 9th at 10 am in St. Bernard's Church at Holy Family Parish, 12 Monument Square, Concord, Mass.
