Salvatore Pelliccio Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Clark Associates Funeral Home on Oct. 11, 2024.
Salvatore A. Pelliccio passed away peacefully on October 9th, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Sal lived a long and wonderful life worthy of celebration. He was born on July 10, 1930 in Mt. Vernon, NY to Elisa and Dominick Pelliccio, and was predeceased by his sisters Mae, Mary, Theresa, Roseann, and his brothers John, Pasquale, and Anthony.
At age 16, Sal met Maria Landino, the love of his life and his future wife. Their first date at a Valentine's Day dance spun into a lifelong romance. They were married on May 20th, 1951, and shared 73 extraordinary years together.
Following his graduation from Edison High School, Sal enlisted and served 3 years as Airman Second Class for the United States Air Force. Upon his service completion Sal became a carpenter and joined The United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, Local Union 493. Always a hard worker, Sal furthered his education at Mechanics Institute's School of Architectural Design and AFL-CIO's School of Labor Relations. He held many positions throughout his career including Business Representative for his local union and Delegate to the District Council. Sal further advanced his service to the Brotherhood as the Executive Secretary -Treasurer and Business Manager for the Westchester County District Council of Carpenters. Ultimately, he reached the pinnacle of his career when elected as member of the Executive Board for the First District on the national level, which he served until his retirement.
Sal was truly a renaissance man who enjoyed athletic and creative pursuits. From boxing and golfing, playing trumpet in the Air Force band to dancing to the music of his favorite big bands, Sal could light up a room! His skill and artistry was further displayed by his life-like decoy and wild bird wood carvings.
Sal's true pride and joy was his family. Together with Maria in Armonk NY, they created life-long memories and family traditions. Sal and Maria raised two lovely daughters, Lorna Yvon (Patrice) and Sally Voss (Christian). In addition to his wife and daughters Sal is survived by four grandsons who were the pride and joy of his life: Tyler, Charles, Cameron (Marion), and Harrison.
Family and friends are welcome to celebrate Sal's life at Clark Associates Funeral Home on Monday October 14th from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm (4 Woods Bridge Rd., Katonah, NY) followed by a Funeral Mass on Tuesday October 15th at 11 am at St. Patrick's Church (29 Cox Avenue, Armonk, NY).

Uncle Sal was a sharp, classy guy, always has something positive to say, filled with wisdom and loves to be around family. He also is the inspiration to all the great birds my dad carves. Uncle Sal holds a special place in my heart along with my grandfather, now they he can reunite with all of his siblings again for a Pelliccio reunion in heaven. He will be missed! I was fortunate to have lunch with him and the family a few weeks ago at their home.
