Salvatore Princi Obituary
Born in Taurianova, Calabria, Italy, Sam came to Syracuse in 1962 in search of new opportunities and a better life. He was the proud co-owner and operator of Sam & Rocco's on the North Side of Syracuse, where he worked side by side with his dear friend and business partner, the late Rocco Cannata.
Sam also ran a semi-pro soccer team, the SamSun Soccer Club, which he took great pride in and poured his heart into.
He was predeceased by his sister, Connie Prince; his business partner, Rocco Cannata; and brother-in-law, Salvatore Prattico.
Sam is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Maria (Prattico) Princi; sisters, Filomena "Fay" Prince, Vincenza Cannata, Giuseppe Princi, Menina Prince, and Francesca Prince; sister-in-law, Maria Prattico; and many Prince, Cannata, and Prattico nieces and nephews who were like children to him. Sam will be remembered for his kind smile, his generosity, and the care he showed to everyone he met especially the many loyal customers and friends he made while running his gas station. He was loved by all who knew him and will be deeply missed.
A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, October 22nd, 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 22nd, prior to the funeral mass from 10-11 a.m. at the church. FARONE & SON Inc Funeral Home is in care of arrangements.

I love my godparents so much. Growing up, we had a special bond and Compare Sam was always there to make me laugh, smile and feel special. He calmed me down when I got upset with my own parents (which happens in life). He would always encourage me. He is an amazing man who had the gift of gentle presence, was an awesome soccer player, and an amazing husband. Comare Maria- I love you so much and am praying for healing and peace in your heart. Compare Sam is in paradise with our savior and smile’s down on all those he loved so dearly, especially you. ❤ RIP Compare Sam. I love you.
