Sam Adris “Pops” McCarroll, age 81, passed away on Friday, November 7, 2025.
Sam was born in Albany, LA, but was a longtime resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. He had great passion for his chosen profession as a hairstylist. Sam’s first job after completing cosmetology school was at the Prestigious Royal Orleans Hotel in New Orleans. After moving to South Mississippi, he eventually opened his own shop. Samuel’s Salon was located at Hardy Court Shopping Center in Gulfport. Over the years, Sam served countless loyal clients before retiring fully in 2019.
Sam was a loving father and grandfather who never met a stranger and taught the family how to tell a good joke. He enjoyed cooking, camping, being outdoors, LSU football, and having a good cup of coffee while spending time with family.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents, Elmore and Marie McCarroll; siblings, Dorothy McCarroll, Donald McCarroll, Vera McCarroll Smith, Elmore McCarroll, Jr., and Wendell McCarroll, Sr.
Survivors include his children, Michael (Natalie) McCarroll, Samuel (Daisy) McCarroll, and Mollie McCarroll; sister, Joan McCarroll Perilloux; and grandchildren, Faith, Dylan, Ryley, Taylor, and Porter McCarroll.
The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you for the incredible care provided by the staff of Seashore Highlands in Gulfport. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Methodist Senior Services Sunday Fund, P.O. Box 1567, Tupelo, MS 38802-1567. https://www.mss.org/give-today/
A “Celebration of Life” will be held at a later date. Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport is honored to serve the family of Sam Adris McCarroll.
