Sam Paregian

Sam Paregian, born on August 2, 1927, in Philadelphia, was a man of many talents and passions. He was the middle child of John and Bertha Paregian, with an older sister, Agnes, and a younger brother, Abe. The family moved to Fresno, California, in 1940, where Sam worked at his father's market while attending high school.

After graduating from Roosevelt High School, Sam enlisted in the Navy during the tail end of World War II, serving in the South Pacific. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Fresno, working at the family grocery store while earning a Bachelor's degree at Fresno State. He later attended UCSF School of Dentistry and pursued a master's degree in orthodontics at Fairleigh Dickinson University.

Sam's career in dentistry was marked by innovation and dedication. He opened his first orthodontic office in Modesto and later established McHenry Village Dental Service. He was also a partner in a Dental Insurance company. His commitment to his patients and continuous professional development was unwavering.

In addition to his dental career, Sam was a passionate farmer, growing wine grapes, walnuts, and almonds commercially. He balanced his love for farming with his orthodontic practice, finding satisfaction in both fields.

Sam was a devoted husband to Geraldine, whom he married at St. Thomas Armenian Church in Tenafly, New Jersey. Together, they raised a family and supported each other in their endeavors. Sam is survived by Geraldine, their daughters Keely (Mark Stickel), Sherrie, and Michelle, grandchildren Dmitri and Athena, and many extended family members and friends.

Sam's life was guided by his motto, 'Nothing Ventured, Nothing Gained.' He was an inspiration to many, known for his perfectionism and willingness to help others. As a Christian, his family takes comfort in knowing he is reunited with his beloved parents, siblings, and relatives.

Services will be held on January 9, 2026, at 11 AM at St. Paul Armenian Church, 3767 N. First Street, Fresno, CA 93726.
