Sam Perkins, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on December 26, 2024, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Born on June 14, 1965, in Dayton, Ohio, Sam's humor and warm spirit lit up the lives of those around him.
He cherished his family above all else. Sam is survived by his devoted wife of 38 years, Tammy Perkins, his partner in all of life’s adventures. Sam and Tammy met at the ages of 13 and 15. She was the love of his life and he was her biggest cheerleader. Together, they raised two wonderful children, Nathan Perkins (Sam) and Sarah Merrell (Steven), who brought them immeasurable joy. Sam took immense pride in being Grampy to his beloved grandchildren, Ronin, Will, and Riley.
He also leaves behind sisters Terri Gee and Beth Sager (John), mother-in-law Cora Leiwig (Steve Turnbull), father-in-law John Dean (Virginia), sisters-in-law: Dawn, Cara and Tracy; many nieces, nephews, and countless family members and friends who will forever cherish the moments shared with him.
Sam was known for his infectious sense of humor and ability to bring joy to any gathering. He was an elaborate storyteller, had a knack for teasing and was affectionately known the master aggravator. He held a profound respect for women and was always their steadfast protector, embodying kindness and integrity at every turn.
Throughout his remarkable life, Sam dedicated over 40 years to the Printing Industry, beginning his journey at a Co-Op and ultimately retiring as a Supervisor from 4-Over, Inc. His hard work and commitment were evident in every task he undertook, and his colleagues admired the passion he brought to his profession.
Sam was a member of the Masonic Lodge and found immense joy in his hobbies. He had a green thumb, especially with his cherished cannas and sunflowers. He loved music, cars, football and fishing. A die-hard Cincinnati Bengals and The Ohio State Buckeyes fan, he passionately supported his teams.
Sam’s parents, Ray and Patricia Perkins, preceded him in death, but their love and teachings live on through the legacy he created with his own family.
A memorial service to honor Sam’s life will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 2:00 PM, at Newcomer Funeral Home, North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton, Ohio.
As we remember Sam Perkins, we celebrate a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support for his family and friends. Though he may be gone, his spirit and the joy he brought into the world will continue to resonate in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
