Sam Anthony Scotella, age 87, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2025, following a courageous three-month battle with cancer.
Sam was born on March 3, 1938, in
Detroit, Michigan, to the late Frank and Mary (Cupolo) Scotella. He was the youngest of five siblings, predeceased by Antonette Scarpelli (Johnny), Patrick Scotella (Leona), James Scotella (Wanda), and Victoria Brown (Doug).
Sam was united in marriage to his dear wife, Mariangela "Che Che" (Colangelo) Scotella, with whom he shared 66 wonderful years of love, devotion, and partnership. Together they built a life centered on family, hard work and faith.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mariangela and his cherished daughter, Rosemarie (Joe) Kolanowski. He was the proudest Papa of his adored grandsons, Mark and Joseph Kolanowski. Sam was preceded in death by his beloved son, Mark Scotella, in 1977.
Sam enjoyed a long and distinguished career in the automotive industry. A lifelong auto sales representative, he retired as President of Tamaroff Leasing Company in 2019 after 52 years in the industry.
Outside of work, Sam found his greatest joy in time spent with his family. He loved boating, travel, and music. He owned multiple boats through the years. A familiar and fondly remembered sight, Sam could often be seen on summer weekends patrolling the streets of MacRay Harbor in his highly customized golf cart, always smiling and waving to everyone he encountered. He was also known as the family photographer/videographer (even before cell phone cameras).
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 19, 2025, at Bagnasco & Calcaterra Funeral Home, from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m.
