Sammy G. “Sam” Seymore, AKA “Pippin” the Clown, 89, of McPherson, KS, peacefully passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2025, with family by his side at Pine Village, Moundridge.
Sam was born April 29, 1936, in Hampton, AR, the son of Curtis and Glenna Seymore. He received doctorate degrees in music and education from University of Montana and Wichita State University. He was a retired Hutchinson Community College music professor.
He was a member of Cornerstone Bible Church, Kansas Silver Haired Legislature, and was a judge for Kansas City BBQ Association. He was also a Master Story Teller and belonged to the Wichita Magic Association. He was an avid pool player, private pilot, and world adventurer.
He served in the United States Army.
Survivors include his sons, Steve Seymore and Mark Seymore; grandson, Sean & Kelsey Seymore of Wichita, KS; great-grandsons, Shepherd Seymore and Porter Seymore; and former wife, Charla Seymore.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Billy James Thompson; daughter, Susan Seymore; and former wife, Carolyn Seymore.
The funeral service will be held at 6:00 PM, Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at Stockham Family Funeral Home with Pastor Josh Mills officiating. Cremation will follow the service.
Memorial donations may be given to the McPherson Senior Center in care of Stockham Family Funeral Home, 205 North Chestnut, McPherson, KS 67460.
