Dalcamo Funeral HomeSam Wong, 71, of Vernon Hills, Illinois, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on Monday, March 9, 2026.
Sam was born on February 27, 1955, in Hong Kong, Hong Kong. In his early twenties, he immigrated to Chicago in pursuit of the American dream. With determination and resilience, he built a life defined by hard work, opportunity, and deep devotion to his family.
Sam’s journey from Hong Kong to the United States reflected the perseverance and quiet strength that defined his character. He took great pride in providing for his family and in creating opportunities for the generations that followed him. Above all, Sam was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His family was the center of his life, and he found immense joy in spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He will be remembered for his kindness, humility, steady presence, and the love he showed to those closest to him. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished and the life he built through dedication, sacrifice, and care for others.
Sam is survived by his beloved wife, Lai Scheung; his daughter, Jennifer; his son, Alex; and his cherished grandchildren, Harrison and Sophie. He is also survived by his seven brothers and sisters, along with many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Sam’s memory to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society."
