Sammy Wilburn Barclay

January 27, 1954 – March 5, 2026

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”

— 2 Timothy 4:7

It is with both sorrow and peace that the family of Sammy Wilburn Barclay, age 72, of Buffalo, Missouri, announces that he went home to the one true Father on March 5, 2026.

Sammy was born on January 27, 1954, in Springfield, Missouri, the son of Wilburn L. Barclay and Freda Barbara (Eidson) Glose. Raised in Tunas, Missouri, he carried with him throughout his life the values of faith, family, hard work, and kindness to others.

Sammy lived and loved big. He was a dreamer, an encourager, and someone who truly believed that anything was possible with enough hard work and dedication. He had a way of lifting people up and making friends wherever he went. To those who knew him, Sam was more than a friend—he was someone who brought light, laughter, and good stories into the lives of many.

Above all, he loved his family. He took great pride in his daughters and cherished the time he spent with them and his grandsons. His family will forever be grateful for the love, wisdom, and guidance he poured into their lives. Though he will be deeply missed here on earth, they find comfort and peace knowing he is no longer in pain and now watches over them as their guardian angel until they meet again.

Sammy is survived by his daughters, Sammie Lynn McCracken and husband Chris McCracken, and Loryn Marie Cook; his beloved grandsons, Hayes McCracken and Brecken McCracken; as well as extended family members and many friends whose lives he touched throughout the years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilburn L. Barclay and Freda Barbara (Eidson) Glose.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date with close friends and family.

Sammy’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. His kindness, encouragement, and unwavering belief in the people around him will never be forgotten.
