Samuel Brooks Jr. 55, of
Richmond, Virginia, was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 26, 2023.
Samuel was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Brooks Sr. Samuel was born to the late Samuel Brooks, Sr. (deceased) and Mary Helen Brooks on July 20, 1968. Samuel, affectionately known as "Sam", "Sammie", "Sam Jr" and "Uncle Sam", accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. He was educated in Richmond City Public Schools after which he began his career doing what he loved, working with antique furniture. During this time, Sam opened his antique shop where he served many people using his God-giving talents. Sam also worked for many other antique shops throughout his lifetime. Sam expanded his career in construction as a Laborer. His tenure in construction included working for Pryor Hauling (2000), where he worked until his final day here on earth. While working for Pryor Hauling, Sam developed such a close relationship with them that they saw him as a part of their family. Sam's love for the Pryor family was proven in his loyalty and dedication to his work. Sam was a jack of all trades. His family and friends called on him for several odd jobs and he was there at every beck and call.
Sam leaves to cherish in his memory, his loving mother, Mary Helen Brooks; son, DeMario Eldridge; daughter, Ashley Eldridge; two sisters, Naomi Dendy (Kenneth) and Sandra Jones (Rickey); two brothers, Wydell Brooks and Leon Brooks (Aarona); nieces, Meikiya Brooks and Sawarndra Brooks; nephews, Antonio Graham, Antoine Graham (Dawn) and Alonzo Dendy (Fawn); aunts, cousins, and a host of great nieces, nephews, and friends, several devoted; Saludie Hawes, Wayne Wyche, Wayne Maybury, Pee-Wee Williams, and Linwood Russell.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 4, at Affinity Funeral Service at 2720 Enterprise Parkway,
Richmond, Virginia 23294. A memorial service will follow at 2:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
