Sonny was a surrogate uncle to me and many young children growing up in Williamsburg, I have had the fortune of working for him in Como's Fruit Store and growing up under his mentoring. Sonny was a respected veteran who always cherished friendship. Many of his friends Frank, Dominick, Olga, Little Joe and Tony Brush, and the commander would visit him daily to enjoy funny conversations, and a weekly visit to either Frost Street or Balmontes restaurants. This would all be done while running a fruit store 16 hours a day. Sonny was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Don Bosco Council, an avid skier, but always a friend. One time Sonny told me the story of how he returned from the Army injured and was working as a clerk when his brother who had owned a local fruit store passed away and how he took over the business to support the family. That business became the epicenter to so many young persons growing up in the 70's and 80's. Sonny would fondly call me on his return visits to New York to have dinner in Balmontes. Sonny you will be sorely missed... John

I have never met Sonny's Family but I bowled with him until he moved to Florida. We spoke several times by phone since he moved. I am a mutual friend of Bud Delia. I am broken hearted over his passing. I send my deepest condolences to his whole family.
