With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Samuel Ervin, Sr., who departed this life on October 21, 2025, in Savannah, Tennessee, at the age of 80. Born in Covington, TN, to the late Samuel Columbus and Donnie Parson Ervin, Samuel was the youngest of seven siblings, each greatly influencing his life.
From a very young age, Samuel embodied the values of hard work and determination. He began helping his family on their farm at just nine years old, showcasing not only his strong work ethic but also his remarkable talent for anything he set his heart on. He was a man of admirable strength and athleticism
On June 3, 1967, he was united in marriage to Patsy Rogers, beginning a partnership filled with love and mutual respect for over 58 years.
He had a deep-seated passion for farming-a calling that brought him immense joy throughout his life. He expanded his skills into residential construction, even fulfilling his beloved wife's dream home where they spent many wonderful years before retiring to McNairy County. Samuel also cherished moments spent fishing, hunting, and traveling with Patsy, creating lasting memories on senior trips and family adventures.
Mr. Ervin was a lifelong member of the church of Christ; he attended the Adamsville Church of Christ and later the Stantonville Church of Christ. He lived a modest life, grounded in faith and surrounded by the love of his family.
His legacy of love and dedication lives on through his beloved wife, Patsy Ervin of Adamsville, TN; two sons, Sam Ervin Jr. and his wife Belinda of Adamsville, TN, and Larry Ervin and his wife Paulette of Finger, TN; as well as his six cherished grandchildren: Sunny, Max, and Jack Ervin, Jessica Jarvis, Audra Ferguson and husband Jacob, and Maggie Ervin. He was also the proud great grandfather of four great-grandchildren: Maci, Autumn, Blakelyn, and Bobbie Grace Jarvis.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Ervin was preceded in death by his siblings, Verble Pilkinton, Joe Ervin, Gerald Ervin, Jean Timbs, Leadrew Ervin, and Ann Goad.
Mr. Ervin's spirit will forever shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed, but always remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
