Samuel Nicholas Newton "Sam", 45, of Elyria, OH passed away Sunday, April 21, 2024. Born March 15, 1979 in Lakewood, NJ, he was the son of the late Penelope Adora (nee Godwin) and Frank Samuel Newton. Sam grew up in St. Peters, MO and North Olmsted, OH.
Sam had a passion for mentoring and helping others with substance addiction. He loved his AA community and Road to Hope Family and all of the friends he made along his journey and they all loved him back. He never met a stranger. He loved getting tattoo's that had special meaning to him, gaming, music, nature, animals, sushi, Japanese anime and the Japanese filmmaker's Akira Kurosawa and Toshiro Mifune. His favorite Kurosawa film was a movie called Ikiru (meaning "To Live"). He will absolutely live on in all of our hearts forever.
Sam is survived by his sister Kristine Newton of Wellington, OH; brother Alex Newton of San Diego, CA; and nephew Tyler (Rachel) Newton of Medina, OH.
A celebration of Sam's life will be announced at a later date.
