Lincoln,
Samuel P. O'Brien, age 79, of Lincoln, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at Hope Health Hulitar Hospice Center, on Tuesday, February 22, 2022.
He was the beloved husband of Antonetta "Etta" (Imondi) O'Brien, for 54 years.
Born in Co. Wexford, Ireland, he immigrated to the United States and eventually settled in Providence but spent most of his life as a resident of Scituate RI.
Sam was a veteran of the United States Army stationed in Germany, and served in the Congo in the early 1960's.
Before retiring, he worked as a HVAC technician for Almacs Supermarkets for over 25 years.
A rabid New England Sports/Red Sox fan, he was first "bitten" when he attended the last game of the fabled 1967 Impossible Dream season, just weeks before his marriage.
He leaves his two sons, whom he proudly raised, Joseph P. O'Brien, MD and his wife, Amy, of Saddle River, NJ and Michael A. O'Brien and his wife, Janet, of North Attleboro, MA, and his cherished grandchildren, Aidan, Evan, and Ella.
Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate a mass of Christian Burial to be held on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at 10 AM in the St. Joan of Arc Church, 3357 Mendon Road Cumberland, RI. Burial will be private. Calling hours are respectfully omitted. Arrangements are entrusted to the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road Cumberland.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Mr. O'Brien's memory can be sent to Hope Health Hulitar Hospice Center, 1085 N. Main Street, Providence, RI 02904.
