Betty and Lane,
What a wonderful life your Dad had. He was a gentleman in every sense of the word. A flood of great memories has come back- family picnics by your pool, road trips looking for antiques, Randy with his pipe contemplating his next chess move, the night he came over with the newly released album Jesus Christ Superstar to see what in the world my parents thought about it. He always had words of encouragement and time for those in our generation. I will always remember his great care of my mother in the 1960's. It is hard to see this generation slip away but I know Randy and Libby, Rosemary and Bill, Phil and Helene and the rest are together with cocktails at 6:00 sharp. You are in my thoughts and prayers. I remember seeing Dr. Penn drive by our house in his beloved Jaguar when we lived on Sherwood Avenue in Waynesboro and often he would stop to say hello or let us speak to his precious Baby and HER baby, Tiger T! What fond memories. You'll be missed, Dr. Penn!

When my mother was a pink lady at the hospital in Waynesboro, Dr. Penn would come in and ask for cheese sandwiches with pimento. He taught my Mom the recipe. Whenever we would have them at our house, my mother would call them "Dr. Penn sandwiches." Now that I live in Western North Carolina, I know that they are the Southern staple, pimento cheese, but they will always be Dr. Penn sandwiches to me. What a kind and compassionate man he was! He later became my mother's doctor, and showed such kindness. A lovely man who will be missed.

A fantastic gentleman I only met over the past year or so at the ACC. I was blessed to have made his acquaintance and share time and stories with him. My prayers go to his family and all those who know him. He will be missed but the memories will be forever. God bless him.

Randy or Randolph as my mother referred to him will never be forgotten. He was a friend, always kind, always called me sweet Carol, always cared about me and my family. So generous with his love!! My husband and I shared some really good talks and laughs with you! We are thrilled to know that you are seated with Jesus in heaven and you are home at last.. free of pain, free of any suffering and there you are experiencing the true holiness of God! We look forward to our reunion in Heaven when our time on earth is done! What a day that will be!! Our hearts and prayers are with all those that loved you! You will be so missed!!!

Marty and I will go the rest of our lives stating that knowing Randy was one of our greatest joys. He so loved Betty and Lane, and considered Hank the son he never had. The four grandkids made him as proud as anyone could be. How lucky you all are to have had him as your patriarch. Our fondest wish is that he has now been reunited with his beloved "Libby", as well as Tiger and Baby. Thank you for sharing him with us....we will be forever grateful.

May God bless all of you at this very sad and difficult time in your lives. I know from the admiration that West had for his "grandaddy" that Dr. Penn was a very special person. I pray that all of you will find comfort in the fond memories you share.

Doc Penn was one of the most caring and generous people I even met. When I was 10-12 years of age, I used to mow his lawn at his big brick home just outside Waynesboro. He was always in my thoughts. God Bless his family.

Doc, we had some good times down at Artistic Perceptions at Roy and Wanta Davenports open houses and showings they hosted and it seemed like you were at the majority of them as Sue and I were. You and those times without you will sure be missed.
