Samuel Rice was born November 12, 1949, in Texarkana, AR to Eula Mae Rice Crabtree, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Rufus Crabtree, Clarence Crabtree, Arties Rice and wife Esther Ray Rice.

Samuel graduated from Booker T. Washington High School, and he also received a degree from Bishop College. Following attending Bishop College, he attended Southern Bible Institute.

Samuel met Esther Ray Wilson of Dallas, TX in 1972 and they later married in 1978. God blessed them with 44 years of marriage. She was employed with Southwestern Bell for 33 years before her retirement. Samuel was employed by the City of Dallas Animal Shelter until he retired. He was an active member of Judea Missionary Baptist Church, Dallas, TX under the leadership of Pastor Ryan Range Sr. He served faithfully until his health began to decline. In the 1980’s he became one of the first church deacons, former Sunday school teacher (children’s class), vacation bible schoolteacher, and choir member.

Samuel leaves to cherish his memories to: his only living brother Ralph Crabtree II(Anita), of Mt Pleasant, TX; Son Issac and daughter Alexandrea Hass (William); five grandchildren Kataleya, Elliana, Toretto; Erika Leigh Nobles and Jeremy Trent King; Sister-in-law Georgia Carol King of Dallas, TX; three brothers in law, Bobby Wilson of Dallas, TX, Barry Wilson (Retha) of Houston TX, and Benjy Wilson (Linda) of Venus, TX; one sister in law, Jo Ann Rice. Ten nieces, Wanda, Sherrill, Katrina, Rachel, Rene`, Mary-Catherine; Josette, Lasonya, Janear, and Angela; Five nephews, Kyle, Wade, Jason, Bryson, and Ralph III; and host of loving great nieces and nephews, cousins’ other relatives, friends, and the Judea Missionary Baptist Church Family who loved him dearly.
